This fourth CD was recorded in Canyon, CA., and includes "Where'd the Money Go", concertina, guitar, and an original fiddle tune tribute to Sylvia McLaughlin, Betty Olds, and Shirley Dean, who climbed a tree in the summer of 2008 to assist the oak grove tree sit on the Berkeley campus called "The Ascent of Shirley Dean".
The CD comes with a 24 page full color lyric sheet for the literate.
The Riley Boys is an anti-war song, a lament from a small town's point of view steeped specifically in the tears of West Virginia, where the loss of one person is felt deeply, and mourned collectively. Lyrics are here.
This recording features session players Steven Strauss on bass, Kerry Parker on fiddle (except for The Ascent), Nina Gerber lead guitar on Cookies, Frank Buffum bass on Cookies, engineered and mixed by Neil J. Young at Canyon Studios, mastered by Bruce Mishkit at Deva Productions in Lafayette, California, photography by Mark Nelson, Michele Thomas, and Carol Denney.
